UK Muslim relief organisations gathered in London on the 16th June to receive the findings of the Volunteer Achievement Award (VAA) pilot. The pilot was conducted in London, over a period of three months. The results of the pilot highlighted that the successful recruitment, retention and sustainability (RRS) of volunteers was dependent upon the recognition and development of the Volunteer. It was clear that the relief organisations did value their volunteers and acknowledged the contributions they make, however, it was clear that in order to support the volunteers in achieving their potential and maximising the benefits to the organsiations further, a systematic approach to RSS was needed to be in place. Muslim Youth Skills also announced the development of the VAA framework, which they hope to launch in the near future.
