Tafazal Mohammad, Managing Director of Muslim Youth Skills, spoke at the recent conference ‘Young, British and Muslim: Academic Research and Real Lives’ organised by Religion and Society.

 

This conference had two aims: to present the latest findings from the AHRC/AHRC Religion and Society Programme concerning young British Muslims, and to discuss the nature and quality of research in this area, its uses and abuses

The Jewish Chronicle has apologised to the Managing Director, Tafazal Mohammad, and also agreed to pay libel damages together with legal costs.
 
Subsidised training opportunities for the BME youth and community sector - available until March '11

Muslim Youth Skills is one of five National Delivery Partners currently working on a project named Progress. The overall purpose of Progress is to give opportunities to build the capacity of the voluntary and community sector (VCS) by offering 25,000 accredited training opportunities for volunteers and paid staff locally, regionally and nationally.

The Progress project provides subsidies to voluntary and community sector training providers. Each unit attracts a subsidy of £100 and learners can access more than one unit.

 

Training units are available in areas such as:

 

 

·       Youth Work

·       Supporting young people who are NEET

·       Community Leadership

·       Diversity & Faith

·       Mentoring

·       Health & Safety

·       Child Protection

·       Safeguarding

·       First Aid

·       Drugs Awareness
